The things that occur in the present but that are not necessarily happening right now.
(He plays cricket every day: So this statement does not clarify that he is playing or not at this point in time. It just tells a present action that happens every day).
The simple present tense (Present Indefinite Tense) is simple to form. It uses the base form of the verb for the plural: (I write, you play).For 3rd person, singular subjects,‘s’ or ‘es’ is added at the end of verb

Simple Present tense ( Present Indefinite Tense ) is used in below scenarios:
1. For habits :
Habits are actions that are performed daily or multiple times a day or on a routine basis. These are actions that usually occur unconsciously and it takes time and effort to change them.
Simple Present Tense Examples:
He goes for walk every morning. (First-person singular, ‘es’ is added with verb ‘go’)
I play cricket every day. ( Plural, ‘s’ or ‘es’ is not added to verb ‘play’)
They eat rice for dinner. ( Plural, ‘s’ or ‘es’ is not added to verb ‘eat)
He smokes.
Ram eats healthy food.
Rajni swims every evening in summers.
He laughs even on small things.
2. To describe general truths or facts:
The earth revolves around the sun. (Singular, ‘s’ is added to verb ‘revolve’)
Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.(universal truth)
Berlin is the capital of Germ any (fact)
3. For repeated or regular actions: Actions which takes place daily or after every fixed interval :
He takes a train to the office.
A bus leaves after every 4 hours from this bus stand for Delhi.
4. Present simple tense ( Present Indefinite Tense ) is used generally with some adverbs :

– Usually
– Never
– Often
– Sometimes
– Every day/week/year
Use:
I always eat vegetarian food.
I never play cricket.
They usually eat together.
He often goes to the temple.
The rule for adding ‘s’,’es’ or ‘ies’ at the end of verb for a singular third person :
Verbs that end with ‘y’, ‘ies’ is added.

Note – If vowel (a,e,i,o,u) comes before ‘ y’ add only ‘s’ :

We can again categories Simple present tense as below:
1) Affirmative present tense (Subject + Verb + s/es(optional) + rest of the sentence)
2) Negative present tense (Subject + Do/Does + not + Verb + rest of the sentence)
3) Interrogative present tense (Do/Does + Subject + verb + rest of the sentence + ? )
Affirmative present tense: Affirmative means ‘agreement’. It’s a statement that says a ‘yes’. It is not negative and does not have a question included.
Below is the Affirmative Present Tense rule with example:
Subject + Verb + s/es(optional) + rest of the sentence
He + play+ s + cricket.
Other Examples
They dance.
He eats ice-cream every day.
Negative present tense: It is used to present things that we never do.
Below is the Negative Present Tense rule with an example:
Subject + Do/Does + not + Verb + rest of the sentence.
He + does+not+play+cricket.
Note – Does is added with a singular third person. Do is added to I/we and plural subjects.
