Shunya Mudra or Shoonya Mudra Steps, Posture and Benefits

The Shoonya Mudra, also known as the “Mudra of Emptiness” or the “heaven mudra,” is an excellent mudra known mostly for targeting the ears and is able to resolve chronic problems like tinnitus or a sudden earache.

However, there is more to this mudra than resolving ear problems. The word Shoonya means “emptiness” in Sanskrit, referring to “ether,” one of the five elements of Ayurveda.
If too much ether, or “emptiness,” spreads in the body, it is to the detriment of the four other elements – for instance, agni (fire) or vayu (air) can not occupy the same space as this emptiness, which is why it’s vital to clear Shoonya using this mudra.

How to Practice the Shoonya Mudra

For this mudra, simply fold your middle finger over the palm of your hand, reaching down to the ball of the thumb, and then place your thumb over the first phalanx of this finger, applying a small amount of pressure.

Your other fingers should remain extended, and do the same with both hands. Practice the mudra every day for a set time, anywhere from ten minutes to an hour, to reap the full benefits. You should settle on a consistent routine, and practice at the same time of day each time you practice.

Benefits of the Shoonya Mudra
1. It can alleviate hearing problems, such as tinnitus, earaches, or even deafness in some cases.
